Extension of the MEM workshop at Marandoo mine site
With the MEM (mobile equipment maintenance) workshop at Marandoo often at capacity, CADDS Mining was engaged to design a 2 bay extension to the existing workshop, to facilitate servicing additional HME vehicles simultaneously.
After the conceptual design was finalised, we produced construction documentation with sufficient detail to allow the client to obtain a construction cost via competitive tender. Once the tender was awarded, we then worked with the contractor on any final details they proposed amendments for, for cost savings.
Producing a complete set of documentation for tender as opposed to Design and Construct can save the client a significant amount of money. Contractor mark-ups on design fees are eliminated, and inflation due to unknowns if contractors are tendering on schematic designs is also minimised.
